Policy states that foster parents must meet the following requirements:

1. Must be 21 years of age.
2. Must not be co-habitating with a significant other.
3. Must have a telephone.
4. Must have access to a car.
5. Must be in good physical, mental and emotional health.
6. Must have a stable income to support family needs.
7. Must not have a criminal record (including all adults residing in the home).
8. Must be able to provide the youth with their own room including a bed. DCFS youths can share a room.

Training

1. 25 hours pre-placement training and 30 hours annually.
2. 2 hours of training required per month.
